Haven't the leaves been gorgeous this week? I've been attacked by some of those nasty germs we all try to avoid. (You know that kind of cough where people look at you like you have some horrible disease? My kids are hoping I'll get laryngitis - they forget that they can read, I can write, and how forceful exclamation points can be.)

It is definitely a busy time for everyone - school pictures, picking up costumes for Halloween, carving pumpkins. How did your pumpkins turn out? Nowadays, it seems the triangle eyes and big mouth just don't cut it. You have to have the stencil and poke millions of little holes before you can carve. And I thought the other way was time consuming!

Tomorrow, there will be a Halloween costume contest at the Lyons Farmers Market. Be there for judging by 9:30 a.m.

teepee.jpg (15691 bytes)A Pumpkin Party will be going on at the Pine Hill Orchards on Rt. 14, north of Lyons; and the Rose Grange is having a community Halloween Party, Rt. 4l4, from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be games, costumes, a spook house and refreshments. Sounds like fun!

Election Day is Tuesday, November 2. I hear there's quite a race on in Williamson. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. If you're an early voter, you can head to the Williamson Rotary Club's Pancake Breakfast at the Legion, 6 to 11 a.m. You can also attend the Election Day Spaghetti Supper at the Williamson United Methodist Church, 5-7 p.m. AND, there's an Election Dinner in Sodus - Chicken & Biscuits at the Sodus United Third Methodist, 5 p.m.

On November 6 there will be a turkey party at the Sodus Fire Dept. on Mill St. at 7 p.m. Also, the Myers Twig Bazaar at the Myers Hospital on Middle Rd. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Sodus. And, don't forget the Bay Street Key West Bonnet Party is also on Nov. 6. You can donate to the auction by calling 483.2233. All proceeds benefit AIDS Rochester.

lamp.jpg (13325 bytes)Don't forget the Sodus Library's Monday morning Storytimes with Mrs. Combes at l0:30. Kids settle in on the piece of carpet of choice and just enjoy.

The Williamson library has two storytimes: Pre-School storytime on Wednesdays from l0:30-ll, and Lap-Sit storytime on Mondays from l0:30 ll (for the younger group). Of course, in mentioning the Library we have a list of books we'd like to share with you and maybe you could pick them up while visiting for storytime. Click here.

The Sodus PTSA now offers to its members a BJ's wholesale membership for $l6.20 per year.Monday, November 8, the Kraft Shack will be Rubber Stamping Christmas cards from 6:30-9 p.m. You'll complete three cards and learn different techniques of rubber stamping. $20 includes all
