Butterfly House by Eve Bunting. The illustrations are beautiful , at the end of the book there is information about raising a butterfly. The author had done research with the Kidspace Museum and The Department of Entomology, Cornell University.

Halloween Mice! by Bethany Roberts. An adorable , easy-to-read story. One the kids can share when they read it to you.

Oh Snow by Monica Mayper. I like reading about snow when I don't have to shovel it. Another easy-to-read book.

Kippers Snowy Day by Mike Inkpen. Along with having a cute cartoon, Kipper also has stories based on his adventures. These books are cute, but a little difficult for the beginning reader. A good one for kids to listen to while they snuggle up with a grownup or older sibling.

Nesta The Little Witch by Angela McAllister. Nesta is a little witch who never makes mistakes. The older witches can't take it, so they trick her into making a big mistake. Fun to see how it backfires on them.
