It's My Birthday! by Pat Hutchins. It's little Monster's Birthday and he doesn't want to share. He finds the other little monsters can have fun despite him. It's more fun when you share with others.

Bird Dogs Cant Fly by Mary Jane Auch. One of our favorites - the text is longer, but a good one to snuggle up and read together. The illustrations are nice and the story is moving. An unlikely pair become friends and discover how wonderful and deep a true friendship can be.

Where Are Momma, Poppa and Sister Jane? by Dick Gackenbach. A funny, easy-to-read book about a little boy who comes home to an empty house. He can't find his family and thinks the worst - from space ships to swamp monsters - until he notices the dog is tearing up a piece of paper. A Kidnapper's Note! (Simple, really - read it and find out what happens.)
