Great Sodus Bay Association elects officers

The newly-formed Great Sodus Bay Association will hold its next meeting on September 14, at 7 p.m. at Cutters Restaurant, 6592 Lake Bluff Road on the east side of Sodus Bay.

At the August 10 meeting, the following officers were elected on a motion by Griff Mangan:

  • President: Dave Williamson, owner of Breakers and Cruisers Restaurants
  • Vice President: Peter Eves, owner of Pier Pointe Marina
  • Vice President: Todd Lupo, owner of Cutters Restaurant & Marina
  • Treasurer: Gerard Palmer, owner of Palmer Distributing Inc.
  • Secretary: Debbie Pagano, owner of Silver Waters B & B

In addition, four Board of Directors and one Member at Large were elected.

Public Relations Director: Belinda McElroy of Maxwell Creek Inn B & B will represent the Bed & Breakfast industry members for the association.

The Public Relations Committee, in coordination with the Events Committee, Sign and Transportation committee will be responsible for getting the message out that Great Sodus Bay is the four season capital of Wayne County.

Events Director: Griff Mangan of Alasa Farms will lead the Events committee in coordinating and establishing a calendar of events to attract tourists to the bay.

Director Steve LeRoy of Rainbow Connection Charters will represent the Carter Boat Captains on the bay. He and other Charter Boat Captains will also help get the message out by distributing the Great Sodus Bay Association brochures at the various trade shows they attend.

Director Shirley Toole of the School House Country Store will represent the unique gift shop members. Shirley will work in conjunction with the public relations committee.

Member At Large Tom Knapp of the Sodus Bay Yacht Club will represent the not-for-profit organizations around the bay.

The Association is still seeking an Executive Director who will be a non-member to oversee and lead the association.

Financial report: As of August 10, there are currently thirty-one members of the Great Sodus Bay Association with a total of $11,100 dues received.

Association by-laws: The By-Laws committee has completed the final draft of the Great Sodus Bay Associations By-Laws and is ready to present it to members at the September 14 meeting for approval.
