Local DAR begins new business year The Colonel William Prescott Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution of Wayne County inaugurates its 1999-2000 agenda on September 15 with speaker Joann Braun of Naples who is the Constitution Chairman of New York State. The National Society DAR endorses our United States Constitution as the supreme law of the land and patriotically assumes as its duty the promotion of its acceptance and adherence to its jurisdiction. Thus the National Society DAR has a Constitution Committee with national and state chairmen. Mrs. Braun will not only stress the importance of the United States Constitution document upon which our government functions, but the history, structure and workings of the NSDAR Constitution Committee. Braun will inform members as to projects encouraged at the chapter level and the requirements for certificates of achievement and awards. Since joining the Kiandaga Chapter DAR in Naples in 1981, Braun has held various offices in the chapter. She has served as State Good Citizen Chairman, Chairman of Meals Reservation Committee for State Conference and presently, in addition to serving as State Constitution Chairman, is president of the DAR Genesee Council District VII Area Regents. Mrs. Braun is a native of the Dallas area of Texas, received her education in Texas and Washington State prior to graduation from Quincy Brown Secretarial School in California. She moved to Naples in 1964 where she met and married her husband, Donald. They have four grown children and five grandchildren. She has worked several years at Widmer's: in the office, as a PR person giving VIP tours, and has traveled promoting the business with several appearances on TV. The CWPC board will meet at 11 a.m. with a luncheon at noon for members. Hostesses for the luncheon are Jane Culver, chairman, Janice Young, and Marcia Cleason all of Palmyra. The business meeting will follow the program. Regent Madelyn Jagger, Vice Regent Roslyn Keifer and Sylvia Harding, who is a member of the State Credentials Committee, will attend the 103rd New York State Conference at The Desmond in Albany, September 23-26.
