Contrary on popular belief, bees almost never sting, unless they are mating, feeding, resting, swarming, leaving the hive or returning to the hive. Paul and Sue Devlin and family entertained family members and friends on Labor Day: George and Linda Stevenson and boys, along with Linda's mother Esther Walker, for a treat of fried dough slices under the shade trees in the back yard. Boy Scout Troop #130 has changed its meeting night to Tuesdays, 7-8:30 p.m. at the high school. All who are interested are welcome. SEPTEMBER 18, 1947: The officers for this year's Senior Class at the Marion Central School are President Richard Derr, Vice President Gordon Adriaansen, Sec.-Treas. Rosemary Doyle, and Treasurer Earl DeWispeleere. The Roast beef dinner at the Legion Home is Sept. 10 (this evening). Helen Engleson is at home, recovering from surgery. The seventh-grade Jewelry Sale starts on Sept. 14. Sept. 16 is the International Club Gourmet Food and Bulb Sale. Diane Van Lare of North Main St. spent several days with her daughter and son-in-law Laura and Jamie Eggleston at their home in Schenectady. Diane helped Laura decorate her classroom, where Laura is starting her second, year teaching kindergarten. Earlier in the summer, Laura, Jamie and Diane toured Maine, enjoying lots of lobster, lighthouses, and antiquing. In Kennebunkport, Maine, they stayed at a Fransiscan monastery, spent time on the beach, and saw former President George bush's home. Harold and Eleanor Schoonerman entertained their family with a breakfast on Sept. 6 and spent the afternoon together as well. Watch for info on the Harvest Festival which will be held in downtown Marion on October 16. Gary and Karen Smith enjoyed a week with granddaughters Karen and Katy Hunter of Redwood, NY.
