North Rose Lions plan for coming events
By Randy Croniser, Tailtwister

The North Rose Lions Club is roaring off to a new year. The pride will be inspired by the guiding eyes of King Lion Earl Finch.

With another successful auction behind them, the Lions will soon have a run of the Apple dry house. Anyone who wants to see this bit of history in operation is invited to stop by on the morning of October 16. It's located on Route 414 between Rose and North Rose.

Wayne County had several of these drying houses in the late 1800's. Apples are peeled, sliced, and then dried on a slotted floor. It was an effective means of preservation.

The Auction - The North Rose Lions would like to thank the community for their generous donations. The Club has been the benefactor of many high quality items over the years. Actually, the community is the real benefactor, as Lions recycle the money to Community organizations and special needs. Last year, the Club was able to provide in excess of seven thousand dollars to sight projects, school awards, fire companies, the library, other service organizations and families with emergency needs.

Although, the Lions have concentrated collection efforts to the summer months, donations are accepted anytime. So, if you are moving and don't want to take it with you, give a Lion a call. (Storage space, volunteer time, and consideration for our auction participants prohibit us from taking torn sofas or many large appliances.)

Thanks for your continued support.
