Enjoy Mexican Fiesta in Sodus

Wayne County is host to hundreds of Mexican and Mexican-American farmworkers each harvest season. These workers bring with them rich cultural traditions and celebrations. One of these celebrations is Mexican Independence Day on September 16.

Much like the U.S. 4th of July celebrations, there are parties, picnics and fireworks throughout Mexico on this day. The Wayne County Multicultural Arts Project, Inc. joins farmworkers in inviting the community to celebrate this special day in Wayne County on Sunday afternoon September 14 in Sodus.

The fiesta will be held at 3 p.m. at the Sodus Primary School on Route 88. The best in Mexican dance music will be provided by Classico Union from Brooklyn. The fiesta will also include delicious homemade food, and imaginative games and colorful pinatas for the children to enjoy.

A general admission of $5 will be charged at the entrance with children under 12 admitted free.

This year's Fiesta is a part of the Celebrate Sodus Festival held September 12-14.
