By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) The Canaltown Chorale will present "A Ceremony of Carols" on Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Palmyra. The same program will be presented again on Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lyons. Harpist Roxanne Ziegler will accompany some of the musical selections. December 3, 1953: Coach Dick Witter's Marion Centrals nipped Clyde Central, 49-48 in a Thanksgiving Eve attraction on the local court. Marion stays atop the Wayne County B-C League. Jim and Pam Wolfanger spent the Thanksgiving weekend in Pennsylvania visiting his mother. They also visited with other family and friends. The Sons of the American Legion Buffet Breakfast is planned for December 20, 8-11 a.m. This will take place at the Legion Home on Witherden Road. Prices are $5 and $3.50. Rog and Gen Adriaansen attended their grandson Michael Adriaansen's induction into the National Honor Society at the School of the Arts in Rochester. Michael is the son of Tom and Theresa Adriaansen of Rochester. On December 3, the Marion Community Band played a concert at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. The Stockings were hung by the chimney with care... at the Marion Museum on December 6th for the Holiday open house. Guests wandered through the four rooms of displays and exhibits and admired the pretty Christmas tree in the Country School room. The tour ended, generally, in the Heritage Room, where the stockings were hung and the delicious trifles were served. This year the visitors were treated to Banana Trifle and Chocolate Trifle, sometimes tasting the desserts more than once to determine which was the best! The gift shop was open and folks were buying Marion cranberry and hunter green coverlets and the lovely Christmas balls where early Marion places were pictured. There are copies of Marion's South Main Street stores and businesses available, too, for Christmas giving. Ruth Haskins was the recipient of the framed coverlet print offered by the Marion Historic Association. Viola DeBack remains in the hospital following an automobile accident. She has been transferred to Strong Memorial from a hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. The Community Christmas Program will be held at the Marion High School on Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. "Few things are more satisfying than seeing your children have teenagers of their own." Alexa Wessie had the misfortune to fall and break her arm. She is the daughter of Alan and Kathy Wessie. Remember that the Plant Lady at 3058 Goosen Road is holding an open house on December 13 from 9 until 2. Nathan DePoint presented the Ministry of Music at the Second Reform Church on December 7, with a song titled "Joseph's Song." Pastor Donald and Judy White entertained Judy's family from Philadelphia. Guests for the week were Tom and Jean Porter and Grandma. While here they helped to celebrate their daughter Bonnie's birthday. Thanks to the Franke family from those attending the United Church, for the beautiful Christmas trees inside and out of the church and for the wreath gracing the sancturary this season. The Community Band will play on Dec. 12 at Bon-Ton Court at Eastview Mall, 7-8 p.m.; Dec. 16 at Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus; Dec. 21 at First Reformed Church, Marion. On Dec. 19, members of the United Church Choir, with Frank Halstead, will go caroling to the homes of shut-ins. They will visit the Wayne County Home and then visit folks in Marion. After caroling, Gordon and Sue White will welcome the carolers into their home for refreshments and fellowship. Johanna Van Camp returned home after being in Rochester General Hospital. Jim Reiss had disc surgery last week.
