Haak a Merit semi-finalist

Sara Haak, daughter of Linda and Jason Haak, has been named as a semi-finalist in the 1998 Merit Scholarship Competition. She entered the 1998 Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

The highest scorers in each state were designated semi-finalists. To be considered for Merit Scholarship awards, Sara must advance to the Finalist level of the competition by fulfilling additional requirements. She must maintain an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by their high school, and submit SAT I scores that confirm the earlier qualifying test performance.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will announce the name of Merit Scholarship winners in April.

Haak is presently ranked first in the Marion Senior Class with an overall average of 96.78%. She has been a member of the varsity soccer and track teams, a member of National Honor Society, GAPP, marching band, Project Alert and Varsity Club. She works part-time at the Marion Library.
