Welcher Rd. gets ok for detour

County legislators will allow the NY State Department of Transportation to use Welcher Road as a detour while the North Clinton St. bridge is reconstructed.

The Newark bridge spans the canal, connecting E. Union St. and Van Buren. The state plans its reconstruction along with .36 kilometers of Van Buren Street between Murray and O'Brien Road. Bids are scheduled to go out in April 1998.

The county has asked the DOT to make necessary repairs to Welcher Rd. after the project is complete.
