
"Bye, Bye
Birdie" takes
Newark H.S. stage on March 7
On Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8, Newark High School will
present the musical "Bye Bye Birdie." Directed by Steve
Duprey, with Jean Bendix directing the vocal music and David
Schwind the instrumental music, the performances will be held in
the High School Auditorium at 8 p.m. both evenings.
Presale tickets for $5 are available from the New ark
Wegmans Service Desk or members of the cast through March 5. Tickets
will be available at the door for $6.
"Bye Bye Birdie" tells the story of a rock and roll
singer who is about to be inducted into the army. The singer,
Conrad Birdie, is to make one final appearance before induction.
His agent's secretary, Rose, arranges for a publicity stunt that
features Birdie kissing a typical American teen-age girl goodbye
on the Ed Sullivan Show.
