Grants awarded to Historical Societies

Grants of $500 each have been awarded by the Wayne County Antique Dealers' Association to two local historical societies to support projects.

Ontario Historical Society will use its award to construct an addition to the log cabin in Heritage Square.

The Pultneyville Historical Society will apply its grant toward the restoration of its recently-acquired house and property on Mill Street, Pultneyville. The house will be converted to a museum.

These were the first grants under the Wayne County Antique Dealers' Association program, which plans to disperse $1000 annually to chartered historical societies in the county to supply extra financial support for worthwhile projects. Applications will again be available to societies in the autumn.

The Association, founded in 1967, initiated the partnership program to allow continuous cumulative support for the historical, cultural and creative life of Wayne County. The group's Spring Antique Show will be held at the Newark Quality Inn on Sunday, April 13. A fall show is planned at the Wi1iamson High School.
