Four win Burger King scholarships

The Newark Burger King restaurant has raised $3800 in scholarship awards for four of its employees through the Burger King/Newark Community Scholarship Coupon Book. The coupon book had over $20 in savings for Burger King food and sold for $1.

Nick Mourgides, restaurant manager, thanks the community for supporting this cause.

The scholarship recipients are pictured: Heather Gary ($700), Sarah Bryant ($1200); Kim Thomas ($700) and Lisa Tripodi ($1200); Mourgides is at right.

Eligibility Criteria which was considered: Graduating senior, length of employment, employment performance, community involvement, written essay on future goals.

"We are delighted that this first-run program was so successful. We plan to do it again and make it a tradition. It is our hope that we can incorporate this program into the scholarship program at the high school," said Mourgides.
