Marion Heritage Festival is seeking racing teams to compete in the bed race to be held Sunday, Aug. 24 in Marion at 12:30. To gain a piece of the $100 prize money call Bob at 589-2185.

The Fiesta de Bienvenido will be July 27, 12:30-3:30 p.m., at the Second Reformed Church Education building. Everybody is invited to attend "Welcoming Fiesta" for the Puerto Ricans that will be working in Marion this summer. Many have already arrived (123 so far) and hopefully by July 25, they will all be here--about 234 in all! Plan to eat at 1 p.m. Bring a non-green salad or a dessert. Music, food, dominoes, and other games, along with a video presentation is being planned for the afternoon.

Gas Engine Reunion - The 33rd Pioneer Gas Engine Association Reunion will be July 25-27 at Marion Town Mark on North Main. Parades of a variety of antique tractors, automobiles and other equipment are planned, as well as threshing of wheat, baling, and an antique tractor pull on Friday and Saturday evening, when bands will also perform from 8 to 11 p.m. Grounds will be open from 9 to 9 Friday and Saturday and until 1 p.m. Sunday; admission is $2 for those 12 and over.

The Rev. Bill Hoffman is now wearing a soft collar and is able to drive.

Happy birthday to Joan Adriaansen on July 26. She is living at Blossom View Nursing Home, Sodus 14551.

Congratulations to Don and Cathy (Lane) Livingston, in Florida, on the birth of a son, Cory, weighing 9 lbs. 2 oz., 22.5 inches long, on June 27. Proud grandparents are Bill and MaryAnn Lane.

Nathan DePoint presented the special music at the morning workshop service at the Second Reformed Church on July 13.

REMEMBER: The chicken barbeque to benefit Tom Levis on July 26 at the Marion Elementary School beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Happy 95th Birthday wishes to Jacob Van Hall on July 25, at the DeMay Living Center.

Lillian Cherrier announces that she is the grandmother of Zachery Ryan Shaw born on June 23 to Marilyn Shaw of Sodus. He weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz.

July 15, 1911 - The experiment of sprinkling the streets with a solution of calcium chloride is being tried by Supt. Morrison and a force of men. It is said but two applications are required to keep down the dust during the summer.

Nicole Sharp of Land O'Lakes, FL, came with her family to visit with grandparents, Ben and Evelyn Sharp and other family members and to see friends, including Jenny Devlin of Farnsworth Road.

Guest soloist at the United Church on July 13 was Jennifer Lighthouse, grandniece of Ken and Grace Franke.

Congratulations to Bill and Carrie Norberg on the birth of their daughter Hanna Ruth on June 26, weighing 7 lbs. and 5 oz.
