Officers of Richards Chapter, OES, and spouses enjoyed their annual picnic at the Kaller Cottage on Canandaigua Lake on Monday evening and plans for their reuzelbollen sale at the Temple on Heritage Day, August 23, were finalized.

For many years it has been the policy of the Senior Citizens Action Council to rent a booth, and service the Senior Citizens in any way that we can at the Wayne County Fair. Because of the unwillingness of the committee to meet our requests and accommodate us, it has been decided that SCAC will not participate at the Wayne County Fair this year.

On July 13 a family picnic and hot dog roast was held at Chuck and June VerPlank's residence to celebrate June's birthday and the couple's 37th Anniversary. The weather was nice and warm and a game of family volleyball was even warmer and was followed by cake & ice cream. The cake was made and decorated by daughter Phyllis Bliek.

August 6, 1931 - The opening of the Mary Ann Tea Room, owned by John Howell, was postponed from Friday to Wednesday because of a breakdown in the new soda fountain.

Bridget and Katy Conrad, from Georgia have been spending the past six weeks with their grandparents, John and Eileen Ballesty of Cory Corners Road. Their folks, Mike and Lorraine have traveled to Marion to see the family and to pick up their girls before heading back home. While here, the Conrads attended Lorraine's 20th Anniversary of her Marion High School graduation.

Kristie Aiken presented the special music at the July 27 worship service at the Second Reformed Church.

A special WELCOME was afforded Christy Niedermaier who provided the beautiful music for the service at the United Church on July 27.

American Legion Baseball (Marion Post 1430) is selling tickets on a 19-inch color TV. Contact any of the players if you are interested.

Pastor Bill Hoffman, of the First Reformed Church, has moved to 3820 Huntley Road, Marion.

The All-Church Picnic, at the Second Reformed Church, will be held at Forman Park in Pultneyville, on Sunday, August 10. The picnic will be held in pavillion #1 on the hardtop. Please plan to arrive around 12:30 and the lunch will be at 1 p.m. Bring table service, a dish to pass and your choice of meat to grill. Dessert and beverages will be provided.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Vice had as a guest their daughter, Bernard and Shirley Layo from Indiana, her brother, Frank from Fort Worth, Texas and her sister Effie and Mike from Inverness, Florida.

Don and Paula VanderBrook of North Main Street entertained their cousins, Leen and Annelies Kegge from St. Philipsland, Holland. They spent a week with them before going on to Washington, DC and to Florida, to see other family members. The VanderBrooks took them on a tour of the Adirondack Mountains and a trip up Whiteface Mountain. They enjoyed a family picnic and since Aneelies loves to shop, especially in the little country & crafts shops, they spent a day looking and shopping. Other days were spent relaxing by the pool.

Howard Dahlberg is now recovering at home following recent surgery for a replacement and relocation of his pacemaker.

Rod and Helen Adriaansen hosted the Adriaansen reunion on July 27. Eating was a big part of the afternoon starting with snacks, fruit trays and a batch of leek soup. The kids thoughly enjoyed swimming and splashing in the pool while the older folks brought each other up to date with the events of the summer. Hots and hamburgs surrounded by bowls and baskets of food was consumed at supper time. Before anyone had to leave, family group pictures were taken for family photograph albums.

Congratulations! to the Marion Red Caps Band who won the coveted First Prize at the parade in Geneva.

Florence Johnson, a former resident of Marion, is visiting in the area for two weeks and was able to see many of her friends when she attended services at the Second Reformed Church on Sunday.

Rev. Russell and Ruth Johnson were welcomed at the Second Reformed Church on July 27, when he preached at the worship service. The. Rev. Johnson was a former pastor at the church.
