Scouts help injured child On June 8, seven-year-old Dominique Manuel was struck by an automobile and critically injured. He spent most of two weeks comatose in Strong Memorial Hospital before regaining consciousness. In September, Dominique will be a third grader in Williamson. The Cub Scouts will be hosting a Car Wash on August 2 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The owner of Breen's Bells has offered the use of his back parking lot. Donations of two dollars can be made to the Dominique Manuel Fund. Businesses have offered help to make this event a success. Joseph Neri Chevrolet has purchased a large block of tickets and will be giving a pair of tickets away to anyone who test drives a car in July, and one ticket to anyone who buys any parts or service. Williamson Hardware has offered to give the scouts supplies needed for the car wash, and The Apple Crate has offered to sell advance tickets in their store. So if a youth knocks on your door and is selling tickets to a car wash, your support for the family will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to volunteer or receive more information, call Glenn Garrison at (315) 589-5127. The multiple broken bones, and other injuries are serious, but the extent of the injuries to the head, neck and spine are unknown; the possibility of long-lasting damage must be faced. The Manuel family has lived in Williamson for 17 years. Clara is a trained nurse who has chosen to stay home to raise her family. Freddie is employed locally by Seneca Foods. Two sons and two daughters have graduated from WCS and established themselves in nursing, education and military careers. Sons, Doc and Albert are high school students, daughters, Cleopatra and Shavonna are in junior high, and A.J. and Dominique have just completed second grade. Medical expenses will be eased by insurance, but deductible and other costs associated with this ordeal have exhausted their savings. Expenses must still be met. If you wish to help the family, with money or with transportation, recreation, meals, etc. contact Michael Herbert. Donations: Dominique Manuel Fund, c/o Michael Herbert, P.O.
