Historical Society marks 25 years The Sodus Bay Historical Society (S.B.H.S.), is celebrating its 25th anniversary by inviting you to a free double concert and ice cream social on Sunday, July 20. The fun begins at 1 p.m. on the scenic grounds of the Lighthouse Museum, 7606 Ontario St., Sodus Point. Settle in with your own chair or blanket to enjoy the Beale Street Bandwagon. This eight-piece Fairport group specializes in Dixieland music. Gene Langie (leader, banjo, guitar), Steve Kindred (trumpet), John Tracy (clarinet), Jim Dungan (trombone), Lynn Eberhardt (tuba and string bass), Chuck Morey (drums), and Don Jones (keyboard), share the distinction of being former priests and wonderful musicians. The tight-knit group is complemented by the sounds of vocalist Andrea Piazza, a co-founder of The Apple Band, a mainstay at Resorts International Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. By 2 p.m. volunteers of the Historical Society will be scooping up luscious sundaes from under the striped awning of the Perry's Party Wagon. For a nominal charge, visitors can enjoy chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ice cream drenched with mouth-watering chocolate, strawberry or butterscotch toppings. Volunteers will also serve their Sunday concert fare of grilled red and white hot dogs, Italian sausage, hot buttered popcorn, ice cold lemonade and soda. The fabulous Lake Ontario view only serves to whet the appetite. At 3 p.m. the Sodus Bay Historical Society is proud to present the 98th Division United States Army Band. This crack military musical unit will set toes tapping with traditional marches and American favorites. The S.B.H.S. is especially honored that the U.S. Army Band will join them in celebrating their silver anniversary in patriotic style. The Light House Museum and nautical gift shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Mondays except for holidays. Call (315) 483-4936 to book a tour for larger groups and organizations. Copyright
