Pultneyville Homecoming is July 20 & 21 Once again, the Pultneyville Historical Society is sponsoring HOMECOMING in Pultneyville, on Saturday July 20 and Sunday July 21. This event has been held the third Saturday in July since its inception in 1957. On Saturday, July 20, the main event is the Antiques Show and Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Over 40 dealers will have booths in Centennial Park (in the center of the Hamlet, at the intersection of Lake Road and Rte. 21). The Homecoming Parade starts at 11:30 a.m., always a fun and amusing event. At 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Chester Peters, Williamson Town Historian, will be conducting his entertaining Walking Tours of Pultneyville. The tours start at the Historical Society booth in the park. Also on Saturday, from 10 to 5, there will be Arts and Crafts dealers, where you can purchase a variety of items, from handmade baskets to hand-thrown pottery. Food is available throughout the day, starting with a continental breakfast at 6 a.m. at Gates Hall. At 10 a.m. there will be other food available, such as homemade sandwiches and desserts, baked goods and pies, a hot dog stand, and ice cream. At 4 p.m., a delicious chicken barbecue, with all the fixin's, will be available at the Masonic Lodge on Lake Road next to the Fire Hall. On Sunday, July 21, the Pultneyville Historical Society will hold a new event - Pictures in the Park. Local artists and photographers will be set up in booths along the edges of Centennial Park, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a chance for you to purchase a fine piece of art or a photograph for your home or a friend. Also on Sunday is the band concert at 3 p.m., with the Ontario March Kings Band, celebrating their 50th anniversary in the hamlet where it all started. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the pleasant summer breezes as the music plays. In celebration of the band's 50th anniversary, there will be a special Pictorial Cancellation available in the Pultneyville Post Office. As if this weren't enough fun for two days, the Pultneyville Civic Light Opera Company will present Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe at 8 p.m. in historic Gates Hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Stop by the Pultneyville Historical Booth in Centennial Park for a free Homecoming Booklet outlining the various events and food concessions, as well as a brief history of the First Baptist Church in Williamson and the Ontario March Kings Band. The Society will have a variety of items for sale, too. Parking is free, and restrooms are available. HOMECOMING has always been well attended - a great time is guaranteed. See you there on Saturday and Sunday, July 20 & 21! Copyright
