Prescott Chapter DAR will honor students

The Colonel William Prescott Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution of Wayne County will host and present awards to the senior class Good Citizens selected by their respective Wayne County schools on March 19. The meeting will convene for lunch at noon with a program entitled "Keeping Our Heritage" to follow. DAR member Kate Chamberlin of Walworth will be the keynote speaker. The parents and/or a school administrator are invited guests.

The 1997 Good Citizens and their schools are:

  • *Jill VanBortel, Clyde-Savannah;
  • AndrewMiller, Lyons;
  • *William Bliek, Marion;
  • *AndrewCarl, Newark;
  • Kimberley Nelson, North Rose-Wolcott;
  • *Rachel Dehneke, Palmyra-Macedon;
  • * Kate Hawley, Sodus
  • * Emily Sensenback, Williamson.

Of the possible eleven Wayne County schools eight participated in the DAR Good Citizen project. (* indicates students attending luncheon.)

Awards in recognition of exemplary citizenship and scholastic achievement have been given by the Col. William Prescott Chapter since 1937. Juli Ormsby of Newark will emcee the program, announce the essay contest winners and make the awards.
