Red Suspenders will become independent provider

Red Suspenders of Newark is going independent as an Internet Service Provider. Owner Dennis Powell says he has been unable to resolve difficulties with Vivanet.

Current customers will be contacted by mail, or call 331-0820 to make the switch. There is no start-up fee for current customers, and the monthly fee structure will be the same.

The customer-to-modem ratio will be 10 to 1. You will need new e-mail addresses.

Red Suspenders customers will run into fewer busy signals, thanks to 12 additional customer lines. A new Internet access system by way of T1 lines and fiber optic cable will provide greater bandwidth. Customers will see speeds ten times faster than the previous system. All modems have 33.6K speed capabilities. US Robotics 56K support will be added when a standard has been set.

Red Suspenders is located on West Union Street, Newark.
