Haunting rides at the Apple Shed

GhostGary Wells, owner/operator of The Apple Shed, on Maple Ridge Road in Fairville, announces a new Halloween attraction to complement the Shed's traditional Haunted Barn.

The new Haunted Hayride is jointly sponsored by The Apple Shed and the Newark Rotary Club. Newark Rotary is a service organization of 90 local business and professional men and women. The Hayride is a fundraising event with proceeds directed to an international community service project. This donation will be matched by another Rotary Club in India, along with additional matching funds from Rotary International to purchase a needed ambulance for a rural orthopedic hospital in India.

Anton DotschkalThe creative and technical force behind the new Haunted Hayride is local Rotarian Anton Dotschkal (pictured), owner of Advanced Security Engineering. Dotschkal has engineered some special effects that have never been experienced before in rides of this sort. He will be assisted by his fellow Rotarians and their families, local Boy and Girl Scouts, and several high school students.

The Hayride is scheduled to run Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 7 to 9 p.m. from October 9 to 25, weather permitting. Free cider and popcorn will be available.

Hayride tickets are $6 each and reservations are recommended: (331-6294). Group rates (10 or more) are available.
