Library holds dollhouse raffle

Dollhouse to be raffledThe Lyons Public Library is holding a dollhouse raffle for the next several weeks. The dollhouse was made in the 1930's by Elmer Oakleaf for Joyce Lauster Metz, a former resident of Lyons.

Mrs. Metz, who worked at the library for 26 years, donated the dollhouse to the library to be used as a fundraiser for its building program. Furniture is included with the dollhouse, most of it is the original furniture, made in Germany during the 1930's.

Katherine Ohmann, a former Library Trustee, restored the dollhouse. The following people contributed to the restoration: Ross Marshall, Ruth Streb, Myron Ohmann, Phyllis Smith, Lyons Thrift Shop and Jack DeTorio. The dollhouse may be viewed at the library at 67 Canal Street, Lyons.

Tickets are $2 each or 3 tickets for $5. The drawing will be held Friday, November 14. The raffle is to benefit the library's future home in the Erie Canal Cultural Center.
