I'm happy to tell you that Tom Levis has returned home after a long hospital stay.

Peter Adriaansen, son of Ken and Donna, is home from Strong Memorial.

Ruby Eisaman is recuperating at the home of her daughter, Barbara (Warren) Bushart and family on Owls Nest Road.

On Oct. 12, Hilda DeLue presented the children's story on hummingbirds, during the morning worship service at the First Reformed Church.

On November 20 there will be a day trip to Beck's Grove. Cost is $45 per person: Transportation, a dinner and Christmas stage show, view the Beck's Grove Christmas lights, stop to shop at the Carousel Mall, also a rest stop on the way home. Call 331-7146 for more information.

Born to Curt and Annette (DeLyser) Lange on October 7, at Myers Community Hospital, Ashley Marie Lange, weighing 8 lbs. 14 oz. She was welcomed home by big sister Laura Amber Lange.

The varsity tennis team completed a stellar season. The team did lose to Harley Allendale Columbia 5-0 in a sectional semi-final. Final record is 12 wins, 3 losses. Coach Thomas cannot remember a more gratifying season and thanks these young women for the opportunity to be their coach.

An exciting holiday trip is planned for December 2-3 to Niagara Falls to see the thousands of lights, Niagara's longest running musical Oh Canada, Eh? and much more. We will be visiting the Aquarium, the Butterfly Conservatory, the IMAX theatre, and all the animated lighted displays among other things. We may even have time for some Christmas shopping! Marion Community Club continues the traditional Election Night Sauerkraut Dinner on November 4. This will be the 25th year for this community service started by the local chapter of a nationally prominent service club now disbanded. Proceeds support scholarships to honor Drs. Bovet & Besemer, who together served the Marion community for 90 years this century. The dinner is November 4 from 5:30-7 at Marion Elementary School. Kids under age 5 eat free.

The girls varsity soccer team defeated Wayne with a score of 1-0. Scoring for Marion was Laurel Stanton from an assist from Amy Fisher. Carrie Barber recorded her 5th shut-out for the season. Great defense.

If anyone has information on ancient Native American Burial Grounds on Pidgeon Hill Road, in Marion, or on the old Native American Burial ground in West Walworth, please call 926-7706.

Marion schools will have Wear Red Day on October 24. Area stores will be decorated with anti-drug messages. A hospital gurney in front of the high school will remind people of the dangers of drinking and driving.

Legion Baseball held a raffle for a 19-inch color TV at the annual gun raffle at the Legion Home on Saturday, October 11. The winner of the TV was Neil Kearns of Marion.

Hanna Ruth, Daughter of Bill and Carrie Norberg, was baptized October 12 at the United Church.

Happy Birthday Wishes to Jim and Dolly Salerno on October 13.

October 9, 1941 - Following the custom established several years ago by Principal Mosher, the Student Service Club has again been set up. This gives students an opportunity to work a period a day in one of the school offices or departments, thereby gaining work experience and learning more about the activities of the school.
