Cachet marks library anniversary

To celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of the Newark Public Library, souvenir envelopes with a special postmark will be for sale. The cost of each envelope is $1.

The event will be held at the Newark Public Library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 15. Refreshments will be served.

The cachet is a coordinated effort of several people, including (pictured) Jim McHale, who is a member of the library board of directors; Gil Lewis, Stamp Club member and host of Stamps For Kids at the library; artist Frank Scalise; and, of course, Library Director Elly Dawson.

Those who desire an envelope but are unable to attend, may forward a check payable to: Newark Public Library, 121 High Street, Newark, NY 14513.
