Boys place 2nd in cross country
The Newark Reds Varsity Boys cross country team placed second overall in the League Championships held at Stuart Park on October 25. The Reds tallied a total of 56 points just second behind championship winner Waterloo's 43 points. Waterloo was the overall league champion this year with a record of 46-0. Newark placed third this season with a 42-4 won/lost mark. Bill Barcomb placed fourth on the 3.1 mile race with a time of 17:46.02. Victor's Vince Sherry was the overall winner with a time of 16:56.37. Jesse Contario was eighth overall at 18.17.42. Don Puff was ninth at 18:22.
