Girls swim team loaded with talent

The Newark swim team will try hard to improve on last year's 4-10 finish.

Coach Tedd VanDuyne said, "We have a lot of talent this year, with this squad possibly being one of the best ever."

Leading the way for the Reds will be senior record-holders Katie Raymo in the 200 and 400 relay events, Colleen McCusker in the 200 freestyle relay event and Laura Semmler in the 400 freestyle relay event.

Lindsay MillerAllison Wahl, a junior, holds records in the 200 free, 500 free, 200 free relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Freshman Meghan Dash holds the school record in te 100 butterfly. Freshman Sarah Lewis is a record-holder in the 100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle relay and the 400 free relay.

Veteran swimmers include seniors Kathleen Dorn, Lindsay Miller (pictured), Brandy Stewart; juniors Kristin Cattieu, Carrie Sauve, Emily Williams; sophomores Colleen Boyd, Jody Flann, Elizabeth Gerhart, Kelly Leeuwen, Merrill Stephens.

Freshmen Virginia Byers, Meg Dash, Kristin Finewood, Elizabeth Hannan, Jennifer Hart, Aisha Osmen, Darcy Tierson, and 8th grader Erin Daly complete the roster. Clarice Mourey will be the team manager.
