Moving ahead on Roosevelt School

Only one item was on the agenda at the September 2 Newark Planning Board meeting.

Jill Graybill, a local developer, was on hand to ask for the rezoning of the former Roosevelt School property at the corner of East Union and Vienna Streets. Graybill incicated that no firm tenants had been signed; among the possibilities are an antique shop, day care center, book bindery, and a restaurant.

No one was present to speak for or against the proposal. The board voted to recommend to the village board that the area be rezoned from PD (Planned development) to B]3 (Business 3).

There will be a public hearing on the re-zoning of Roosevelt School on Tues., Sept. 16 at the High School auditorium at 7:20 p.m.

Graybill must present site plans that detail any building changes before the board can recommend that permits be issued.
