Celebrating 50 years of marriage

Arline Moshier and Lloyd Van Haneghem were married August 23, 1947 at the First Reformed Church with Rev. Anthony Dystra officiating. They were attended by Claire Van Haneghem, cousin of the groom, as Best Man, and Marjoire Milkes, the groom's sister, as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Clara DeNeering, Helen Cook, Geraldine VanKouwenberg, Helen Schultz and ushers were Robert DeNeering, Richard Milkes, William Weaver and Roger Boise.

Arline and Lloyd Van HaneghemThe couple owned and operated a farm on Eddy Ridge Road until 1965. In 1967, Lloyd became an Auctioneer of the well known Van's Auction Service, and still helps his son-in-law, Steve Schutt, who has taken over the business. Arline worked at Dunn and Bradstreet in Rochester for 10 years following their marriage. They have two daughters, Linda Schutt of Marion and Cathy Van Haneghem of Palmyra, and three grandchildren, Steven, Jared and Kristina Schutt.

The VanHaneghems enjoy traveling and have visited Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands. They have been spending their winters in Florida with family members and friends.

They were honored at a surprise dinner, given by their children and grandchildren, at the Belhurst Castle in Geneva on August 23. The children and grandchildren also hosted an open house on Sunday, August 24 at the United Church in Marion. Six of the original wedding party were able to attend.
