Gem, mineral show coming to Newark The 4th Annual "Crystal Wonders" Gem, Mineral &
Fossil Show will be presented by the The show will feature minerals, fossils, jewelry, exhibits, demonstrations and door prizes. Special new activity for the children at this years show will be panning for gems and minerals. There will be a Chicken BBQ on Saturday sponsored by the Newark Fire Department - noon until? Sunday - hots & hamburgs will be sold. Rockhounding is a recreational and educational hobby for all ages. In photo are Jim and Marion Wheaton of East Williamson. They have been members of the Wayne County Club since 1973 when Marion co-founded it,and have collected most of their rocks over the years through digging, trading and buying. The Wayne County Gem and Mineral Club, Inc. is affiliated with the American and Eastern Federation of Mineralogical Societies. Meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of each month at 7:30 P.M. at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark. Meetings are open to the public. The club features an annual picnic in July, Christmas party and numerous field collecting trips headed by field trip chairman, Stan Griffin. The Wayne County Club now has over 100 members from as far away as New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennslyvania and Canada. The Wayne County Gem and Mineral Club is the only club of its kind in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates counties.
