Grace Stell will be 98 next week

Grace Stell was born in Ontario, NY on October 2, 1899. She lived in Ontario Center most of Grace Stellher unmarried life. She graduated from high school at age 16 and attended Wellesley College, graduating in 1921.

She taught algebra and geometry at Fayetteville High School for three years, then moved to Alton where she met Leon Stell. They married and moved to Newark in 1928.

Leon and Grace had four children, three girls and one boy, the last one born when she was 47. On Dec. 29, 1965, her husband died. He was only 62.

Grace moved to Armstrong Senior Living in September 1995. She is pictured giving a talk on the history of the American flag, last year, at Armstrong.

She loves to knit and sew, and keep her hands busy. She feels rich in the happiness of her family and their successes. They are a close and caring family and Grace says, "I've had a marvelous life!"

She has 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
