Apple Harvest Festival in Wolcott The Wolcott Apple Harvest Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, October 3-4. The Apple Harvest Festival serves as a fundraiser for the Faith United Methodist Church building fund and provides recognition and an expression of appreciation for the contribution made by agriculture to the local economy. Sidewalk sales, crafters, a harvest supper, pie baking contest, and musical entertainment are just a few of the traditional events included in the celebration. The festival begins at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3, at the Wolcott Fire Hall with Faith United Methodist Church's annual Harvest Luncheon, farmers market, craft sales, and Smorgasbord Supper at 5. Church-sponsored activities continue at the fire hall on Saturday with the annual pie baking contest (entries due by 10 a.m.), craft sales, and a merchandise auction at 6 p.m. The 3rd Annual Apple Harvest Chariot Races will be held on Main Street in Wolcott on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local fruit growers and businesses have been invited to participate by building "Chariots" out of wooden apple bins to be raced on Main Street in the Village. Prizes will be awarded based on the racing competition as well as judging of Best Engineered and Best Decorated apple chariots. While the races are in progress, WNNR 103.5 FM Radio Newark will host a live remote broadcast. Food will be plentiful on Saturday starting with breakfast in town or at the Park. You can enjoy the VFW's famous Chicken BBQ for lunch (11 until gone) or visit the Wolcott Baptist Church for a special luncheon at 11:30. Local restaurants will offer their traditional fare, topped off with special apple desserts. Community organizations will offer fresh home baked apple pies (whole or by the slice) in Northup Park.
