Masterminds meet

The last Masterminds match of the year was held at Geneva on March 10. Newark overcame many obstacles to perform well at the meet.

The varsity lost to Victor and beat Geneva in their two matches to finish with a record of four wins and eight losses. Newark was led by fine seniors Kristen Admirral (110 points on the day), Sean Bailey, and Jen Doyle (20 points). Junior Olesia Biskupska also had a fine day with 10 points against Geneva. Newark just missed making the playoffs by one spot, finishing fourth in the league, The seniors will be missed next year.

The junior varsity wrapped up a fine season by winning their only match of the day against Midlakes 80-50. The JV was led by Bill Hammon (15 points), Aubrey Zich (10), Dave Hartman (10), Tim Stotts, and Tablitha Capron (25). The JV finished with a record of 6 wins and 3 losses on the year.

Coach DeYoung said all the players improved as they gained experience. Twenty students were able to take part in Masterminds competition this season.
