Happenings

By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436)

Chris and Ginny Christianson have returned to Marion after a time in the sunny south.

Barb Ruple is at home following a hospital stay.

On Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. till noon, there will be a dolls display at the Marion Museum. The will be collection showing how to make dolls from the beginning greenware, to putting blush on the cheeks and on the selection of the color of eyes and hair. There will be a selection of Raggedy Anns and Andys for you to see and admire.

THANKS! from Milda DeLue to those who remembered her while she was recuperating with her broken leg. All the cards, calls and remembrances were very appreciated.

Happy Birthday to Darlene Leeuwen on April 6.

I know it's Spring! The leeks are up behind the garage.

Dick and Millie Loucks are back from Florida, too.

Congratulations to Denise Keyes and Kevin Switzer who were united in marriage on April 4 at the United Church.

There will be a Gun Raffle at the Marion Legion Post Home on Saturday, April 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 each at the door. Free Refreshments. There is a chance to win one of 20 prizes.

The Roast Beef Dinner at the Post Home is this evening.

And they have scheduled a Breakfast Buffet and Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Marion American Legion Junior Auxiliary and Junior Sons of the American Legion. Buffet is April 11 from 8 to 11 a.m. at $5 each. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 11:30 a.m. Both are open to the public, with proceeds going to the Canandaigua V.A. Hospital.

APRIL 7, 1955 - The membership of the Senior Band of Marion Central School were awarded the Best Appearing Band Trophy at the Wayne County Music Festival held at Wayne Central.

Easter falls officially on the first Sunday after the full moon after the spring equinox. It is not coincident that this corresponds with the beginning of spring, for the Christian celebration of Christ's resurrection replicated far more ancient pagan celebrations that have to do with the return of the sun. The deliberate linking of sun and SON is a motif throughout Christian literature.
