Weekend of the Endangered

Savannah's Weekend of the Endangered is a growing festival. This year, the third annual event will be held June 6 & 7 and have more to offer visitors.

The State and Federal Wildlife Officials will be again volunteering their time and canoes to give visitors a one-mile ride on Crusoe Creek. Last year, the first canoe rides were held, with 60 people attending. Over 100 are anticipated this year.

During the 45-minute ride, wildlife observation and habitat restoration is enjoyed and explained by the official guides. A longer route is available to avid canoers. This is a wonderful time for interaction between officials and citizens.

Savannah Evergreen will give an exclusive one-hour bus tour of their facility. The Savannah Rod and Gun will be provide guns and turkey callers with lessons to all visitors who would like to try trap, shooting or turkey calling.

Buses will be available to and from country events. Check our website for much more: http://members.aol.com:/crusoecroc

Linda VanGelder, President and Coordinator of Weekend of the Endangered" is already working on "Proud to be Savannah - Roots Weekend" for 1999.
