IEC employees and many guests attended Tuesday afternoon's Founder's Day ceremony at the Newark facility.

Board member Justin Vigdor spoke about the company's history, and about the accomplishments of founder Roger Main.

Company President David Fradin was out of town but sent a letter for the event. Vigdor and Fradin both addressed Main's brilliance in dealing with business issues, his honesty and loyalty, his deep respect for the people of Newark.

Vigdor remembered Main as "...a tough, fair, decent person of great integrity."

Jimmie Ruth Main and Russ StingelAll gathered outside under gray skies to watch as a plaque was unveiled by Main's widow, Jimmie Ruth Main (pictured with CEO Russ Stingel). A weeping cherry tree was also dedicated.

The cherry tree is from Parker Nursery, and the materials for the plaque are from Cleason Works and Newark Granite Works. Both are visible from the IEC rockintersection of Norton and Siegrist Streets.

IEC corporate headquarters are located at 105 Norton Street. Founded in 1966, the company opened its Newark manufacturing facility in 1972. Roger Main died in July 1996, barely a month before the company's 30th Anniversary.
