Hottest fire in 10 years A barn burned to the ground Wednesday, at 628 Filkins Road, Newark. Newark firefighters were called in at 9:30 p.m. Fire Chief Jim Murphy said the barn was
fully involved Witnesses heard six or seven explosions when a new tractor trailer cab became involved. It and a tent set up for an auction were destroyed. The auction was scheduled for tonight. Standing by at Newark's hall were Lyons and Phelps volunteers. Firefighters cleared the scene around 11:30 p.m. Dick Colacino said it was the hottest fire he's seen in 10 years.
