Marion nurse Ellen Rich retires
By Carolyn Adriaansen

Webster's Dictionary lists one meaning of nurse as "to treat with special care." Marion Central has been treated with special care for 25 years by Ellen Rich.

She has been involved in many ways with the health of both students and staff. Do you need information about a medical condition, Marion and its history, emergency care, or perhaps an interested ear or a shoulder to lean on? Rich is the person to see. Did you see the article in the paper about one of our students or about your special areas of interest? Ellen is sure to have clipped it for you.

Her involvements include Marion Community Christmas, Marion Historic Association, Wayne County Historical Society, Marion Health Aid, Wayne County School Nurses, and the Salvation Army. She has also been the advisor to Candy Stripers clubs, advisor to Elementary and High School Ski Clubs, a member of the national Ski Patrol for over 25 years, served many years on the Wayne County Community Services Board and the Willard Board of Visitors.

Over the years, Ellen has spent countless hours working to help those less fortunate in our community. She has championed those in need financially, academically and socially.

Rich plans to pursue interest in local history, basketry and gardening. I wish her good luck!
