By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) THANKS! to all those who supported our family's team at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. While attending the Trienniel Assembly in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I was able to visit friends Ange Heerspink and Alice Ihrman in Holland, MI. The Marion American Legion will be holding a Roast Beef Dinner on September 11. Mark your calendars. While you are visiting the Wayne County Fair, don't forget to stop by the Marion Senior Fair Booth. Hots, hamburgs, sausages and delicious homemade pies! Isabelle Bushart tells me there is still some room on the Beck's Grove bus trip, Wednesday, August 26. Chicken barbecue and the trimmings with free BINGO, live entertainment, games. At 3:30-4:30 there will be hot dogs, hamburgs, and sausages, clam chowder, pizza and ice cream. Prizes and Awards. The cost includes transportation, and all food and activities. $37. Since this is partiallly town-funded, Marion residents over the age of 60 pay just $20 for the day. Call 926-7764. On August 16 the Second Reformed Church will hold their church picnic at Forman Park, at 1 p.m. Hymn-sing and Devotions; singer Debbie Bastian will share her ministry. Nate DePoint presented the Ministry of Music at the Second Reformed Church on August 9. His selection was "Take Up The Basin and the Towel." On August 22, the Youth Event in the Education Building of the Second Reformed Church will be "One More Blast For Summer." Grades 7-12, 7:30-10 p.m. Officially Sanctioned Loitering. Congratulations to Rebecca Hussey and Richard Magee who were united in marriage on August 8 in the Bronx. The East Palmyra Christian School is taking applications for pre-school and kindergarten classes. For more information and/or a tour call 597-4400. On Saturday (tomorrow) there will be a 50th Anniversary of the East Palmyra Christian School celebration at 5:30 p.m. Daughters Lorraine (and Len) Thien and Janet King have been visiting their parents, Dan and Mary Filbert. "How beautiful it is to do nothing and rest afterwards." Kevin and Kim Bushart and girls, have returned home to Melrose, New Mexico after visiting Kim's family in England in celebration of their 10th Anniversary. Remember the Car Show at the Town Park on August 16. And don't forget to get your strawberry shortcake at the First Reformed Church booth while you are there! Word has it that Bea Curtis has moved to North Carolina to be closer to her family. Sara Provost celebrated her birthday on August 8. Her address is 1456 Caulkins Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534. AUGUST 11, 1921 - When Mr. and Mrs. Fred Philley and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Green of Palmyra were returning from Sodus Point Sunday evening, in turning out to avoid a mud puddle, the car, a large Dodge touring car, struck wet sand and went down an embankment on the Palmyra Road near Fred Durfee's and overturned. Nettie Boerman, accompanied by her sister-in-law, Fran Zonneville, spent a week with her daughter, Rick and Martha Donegan and granddaughter, Holly in Deland, Florida. Hilda De Lue is busy packing pickles. Hers are the best! Pete and Esther Hutt have returned recently from a tour and visit to the Netherlands.They spent two weeks traveling around Holland and with Pete's Aunt and Uncle, Aaf and Sjoert Vogelzang in Croningen. Clara Schultz of Walworth was happy to have her daughter Karen Marsh and Raycelle fly in from California, and grandson Bill came from Virginia. Karen decorated for a Family Reunion Pizza Party for sister Kim Lancaster, with Del, Crystal, Cody, Tara, and brother George and Kay, Eric, Keri and Clara's great-grandson Jordan Hayes. Paul and Sue Devlin entertained family with a pool party and supper last Sunday. One special treat was funnel cakes. The guest speaker at the First Reformed Church on Aug. 9 was Mitchell Brink of Michigan, who was visiting the Arcadia Reformed Church. The 17-year-old presented an uplifting message. Copyright
