John Weyman, Denise EverittSwimmer sets
Empire State records

Denise Everitt of Marion won Gold in six individual events at the Empire State Games, July 25 and 26 in Rochester.

In winning each of her events, she also set six new Empire State records for the female 45-49 Master's Swimming age group.

Everitt practices with the Newark Dragons. Dragon's swimmers have achieved State and National recognition for age group times and now have a Master's swimmer setting new State records.

The events and winning times:

  • 800 meter Free 10:53.33
  • 200 meter IM 2:55.51
  • 100 meter Fly 1:17.24
  • 400 meter IM 6:17.21
  • 200 meter Fly 2:59.18
  • 400 meter Free 5:20.92

On July 18, Everitt competed in the '98 New York State Championships Two Mile Open Water swim held at Kershaw Park in Canandaigua. She completed the swim with a time of 49:25.63 and was the first women to finish overall. She is coached by former three-time All-American John Weyman (pictured here with Denise) and Katie Amyot.
