Ready to choose an electric company?

The Wayne County Area Agency on Aging and the State Public Service Commission and Consumer Protection Board will be giving informational presentations on electric deregulation for senior citizens.

USA's last monopoly industry -- the business of providing and selling electricity is now being deregulated and forced into the world of competition.

Deregulation has come to the railroads, the airlines, telecommunications and banking. Now it's electricity's turn -- and everybody uses electricity. How do you go about finding a new electric company? When does the deregulation affect your area? Will your rates go up or down? What if I have a complaint with my new electric supplier? What if I get "slammed"? Will today's programs for the disabled, low income and senior citizens be maintained?

Answers to these questions and many more will be addressed at an upcoming informational presentation scheduled at your nutrition and wellness center or senior citizen club.
