Happenings Congratulations to Albert and Maria Depape, who celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 16. The Depapes spent the day with family. Stan and Isabelle Bushart hosted a bus trip to Beck's Grove in Blossvale, north of Oneida. We visited with friends, played games, ate and ate. The day started with snacks; there was a chicken BBQ and trimmings for lunch, which was followed by more activities. Before we left for home, we were served hots, hamburgs and sausages. "Happy Birthday Wishes" to Ernest Boerman who will celebrate his 82nd birthday on August 30. His present address is 3930 Cory Corners Road if you'd like to send him greetings. Howard Vice is home from the hospital and would enjoy cards. His address is 4161 Sunset Drive. Cpl. Mark and Courtney Welch are spending time with parents, Ray and Cindy Welch and family of Cory Corners Rd. After their visit they will be returning to Colorado Springs. Diane Van Lare has returned from a visit with her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and James Eggleston at their home in Schnectady. While there, Diane enjoyed helping Laura ready her Kindergarten classroom, where Laura will be teaching this year. They had fun decorating several bulletin boards and the walls. They also enjoyed a brief shopping trip together and lunches out. Don and Shirley Ameele have just returned from a 10-day trip to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. There were 37 in the traveling group, of which 22 had previously journeyed with Bill Peterson of Channel 13. Earl and Shirley DeWispelaere of Virginia spent time with their mother, Nellie DeWispelaere, in Marion. They were in town to attend Earl's 50th Marion High School class reunion. Kristi Bryon presented the Ministry of Music at the Second Reformed Church on August 23. During the Marion Festival, you may like to plan a stop at Maryellen's Restaurant, downtown. I hear she is serving Dutch Lettuce, Soscyzen and Reuzel Bollen! Happy Birthday to Naomi Jackson who is at home at Moselle, Mississippi, on September 5. The annual "See You at the Pole" will be gathering for prayer at the school flag pole, on September 16. Congratulations to Todd and Wanda (Halstead) Clark who were married on August 22, at the United Church. Look for the Bake Sale Booth at the United Church on Saturday, August 29. REMEMBER the Roast Beef Supper at the Marion Legion Home, on Witherden Road, on September 11. A gathering of folks acquainted with Compassionate Friends, met at the home of Stan and Isabelle Bushart on Wednesday, August 19, enjoying a picnic and spending time together. In time for the Marion Festival, the Marion Historic Association is showing and selling prints of buildings on North Main Street. Stop by the booth and "take a chance" for the donation of $1. AUGUST 25, 1917 - A total of 12 large boxes packed with supplies for wounded French soldiers were taken to Rochester on Monday by S.B. Curtis.
