Marbletown neighbors pose questions Residents of Marbletown turned out in large numbers Monday evening to ask questions about a proposed manufactured home park. The former Beckens Park site was purchased by Roger and Carol Hubright at a county tax auction. The Hubrights plan to develop the park to eventually accommodate up to 100 homesites. Monday night's meeting was informational. According to Ed Van Quekelberg, Chairman of the Arcadia Planning Board, the forum was to allow residents an opportunity to ask questions about the conceptual phase of the project. The total number of people who would live in the park seemed to be the main concern of residents. They expressed concerns about the effect that the concentration of people in this area would have on their water supply, and whether area wells would be safe from contamination. Paul Russell, engineer for the project, answered many questions posed by neighbors. But he admitted that in some cases the plan was not far enough along for him to provide certain data. Chairman VanQuekelberg and town attorney David Saracino reminded the residents that their concerns were not being ignored. They explained that the town engineer, town code enforcement officer, and the planning board would assure that all health regulations regarding sewer and water quality would be strictly adhered to. Among the items to be addressed at future meetings will be:
According to Marty Aman, of the MRB Group (engineers for the town), a full hydro-geological report will likely be required, and said review may require the hiring of a qualified hydro-geological specialist to properly assess the potential impacts on behalf of the Town of Arcadia. Copyright © 1998 |
