Happenings DECEMBER 7, 1922: The Board of Education has asked for bids for the removal of the LeRoy Blacksmith shop and the house and barn on the Smith estate, premises to be cleared by March 15, 1923. Roy and Shirley Tack of White Road, entertained their family for dinner and the day on Thanksgiving. Don and Paula VanderBrook welcomed 15 family members for a gathering on Thanksgiving Day. Everyone helped grandson, Shawn, celebrate his birthday which occured on the following day. Ed and Sue Sherman and family were happy to have a someone special spend the Thanksgiving Day with them. Their guest was grandmother, Elizabeth Boerman who now resides at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Gertrude Collier was invited to spend Thanksgiving with her daughter and family, John and Linda Newlander in Macedon. Visiting was Gertrude's granddaughter, Debra Pekari and family from Cape Cod. Marvin and Loretta DeFisher of East Williamson Road had their family members join them for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner on Turkey Day. Myrna Quigley was happy to spend Thanksgiving Day with her daughter and family, Harry and Wanda Conaway in Lyons. Martha Rich has accepted a position as Director of Nursing at the Newark Manor Nursing Home in Newark. Potpourri of Gifts in Walworth, is holding their Christmas Open House on December 4, 5 and 6. On December 5th there will be door prizes, tasting tables, book signing and in-store specials. Stop at the store across from the Post Office. 986-7999. AARP is sponsoring a 50 & Alive Driving Course at the United Church fellowship hall on Dec. 7 and 8. The Marion Community Christmas Program will be held on two nights, December 14 and 16. Linda Schutt provided the Thanksgiving arrangement that graced the Communion table at the United Church. Barb Ruple is home following surgery. On November 22 the young people in the senior high group at the United Church provided pies and assisted the Salvation Army in serving dinner to the homeless and the 5th and 6th grade class returned again this year to St. Joseph's Hospitality House preparing and serving soup and sandwiches to the homeless. December 7 - Marion Eighth Grade Pasta Supper. "Your teenagers are only willing to be seen with you if they are driving the car." On the first Sunday of Advent, The Profit's Candle was lit at the Second Reformed Church. Stan and Isabelle Bushart joined other family members at the home of their son, David and Karen Marsh and family of Chili to enjoy Thanksgiving Day together. Paul, Jody and David Bender spent Thanksgiving with Paul's brother, Ray and Mary Lynn Bender and children in Pittsford. Also, enjoying the day were Joe and Ann Cavanough and Mary Lynn's brother, Kevin, all of Buffalo. Paul's mother, Joyce Booker visited after dinner in time to join in a game of "Pictionary."
