County briefs
By Donna Comella

When the Wayne County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday, most business was to tidy up for the year's end. That business included resolutions to:

  • Establish a committee to study the feasibility of making the Public Defender's position full time. The move would take place January 1, 2000. On the committee are: Supervisors Monica Deyo (Marion), Mary Ann Biek (Williamson), Don Colvin (Savannah), Frank Guelli (Walworth), and Dave Lyon (Palmyra).
  • Reappoint Dave Lyon, Lucinda Collier and Angelo Palermo to the Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority. Their terms expire December 31, 2001.
  • Authorize three employees to carry over accumulated leave (not to exceed 40 days) into next year. The employees are E-911 Coordinator Jim Lee, Fire Coordinator Rick Bond, and Personnel Officer Peter Stirpe. Supervisor Dave Lyon voted against all three resolutions.
  • Endorse the appointment of Debi Jones, Human Resources Manager of North American Filter Corp., Newark, to the Finger Lakes Private Industry Council.
  • Set public hearings for HUD Community Development Block Grants: one is January 4 at 10 a.m., the other is January 6, also at 10.

The 1999 Organizational meeting will be held Monday, January 4 at 9 a.m.
