Luncheon at Newark library

Newark Public LibraryThe next lunch meeting of the Friends of the Newark Public Library will take place at noon on Friday, February 13.

The guest speaker will be Marcia Dugan, author of the recently published book, Keys to Living with Hearing Loss. Dugan is president of the National Board of Trustees of Self Help for Hard of Hearing People (SHHH) and a past president of the Rochester Chapter. Most recently, she served as Director of Public Affairs at R.I.T.'s National Institute for the Deaf. She grew up in Havana, Cuba, and holds a BS degree in biology from Antioch College.

Having a binaural hearing loss herself, Dugan will share her experiences communicating using hearing aids, speech and assistance technology. She has many tips for those who hear and for those who do not.

Reservations for the luncheon can be made by calling the library at 331-4370.
