AHS dinner planned

The annual meeting of the Arcadia Historical Society will be held on March 4, at Burnham's Canalside, 125 N. Main St., in the Quality Inn. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 7.

Price for each dinner will be $12.25 per person, including gratuity. The buffet dinner will include sliced roast beef, Burnham's famous fried chicken, oven-browned potatoes, vegetable, shells in meatsauce, tossed salad, other salads, rolls, dessert, coffee and tea.

Reservations are required, with dinners payable in advance, by February 26. Guests are welcome to attend with a member. Checks payable to Arcadia Historical Society, or A.H.S.

The speaker is Don Shilling, a historian from Penfield. He will both portray and talk to the group about the life of DeWitt Clinton, particularly his involvement with the beginning of the Erie Canal. Shilling had a long career in education and education administration before becoming a historical researcher about seven years ago. He also teaches courses at the Rochester Museum & Science Center's Gannett School, volunteers at High Falls, and is a trustee of the Rochester chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.

The meeting will also include the President's Annual Report and Election of Officers for the coming year. We hope you will attend this very special dinner meeting. Don Shilling was superb as last year's speaker, so good in fact, the Board has asked him to return.

For any additional information, phone Chris Davis, President, at 331-4078.
