Indoor Track Sectionals at U of R

The Newark girls indoor track team placed fourth overall in the Class B sectionals held at the University of Rochester on February 14.

The girls tallied 55 points. Victor led with 87.5 points, followed by Brighton with 84, Pittsford Mendon with 60.

Jennifer Stevens placed first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:54.3. Erin Daly was third in the race with a time of 11:25. Stevens also ran on the winning 3200 meter relay event with Daly, Amanda Leeuwen and Raeanne Napoleon (10:38.6) and Stevens was third in the 1500 meter run (5:09.30).

Lois Jenkins was second in the 50 meter run with a time of 6.8 seconds. Jill Starkenburg was second in the 40 meter hurdles with a time of 6.8 seconds.

The boys indoor track team placed third in the Class B Sectionals.

Newark tallied 69 points; McQuaid was first with 78 and Aquinas with 73.

Dwayne Parker finished second in the 50 meter run in 5.9 seconds. Paul Garland placed second in the shotput with a toss of 40 feet. Greg Switzer was third in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:29.8.

Newark was second in the 1600 relay (3:44.2) and second in the 80 meter relay (1:40.2).
