December 21, 1933 - A community event, the first of its kind in Marion, started by the Marion Fire Department will take place Sunday evening at 6 in the firemen's park. There will be a 30-minute service, a lighted Christmas tree, candy, popcorn and oranges will be given to the children.

Jeanette and Doug Wessie, accompanied by Craig and Darlene Brown of Bloomfield, have returned from a trip to Las Vegas. They spent a week there and attended the National Finals Rodeo.

Dick and Charlotte Bradley of Wesley Chapel, Florida, are staying with their son, Alan and Cindy Bradley and family of Williamson. They have been with their family members for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

I hope that you had a chance to enjoy the lovely luminaries placed along Walworth Road on Christmas Eve. A lovely sight!

Clarence and Gwen Bushart spent part of December in the Hawaiian Islands. They were there on December 7th and attended the stirring Pearl Harbor Day Services. They enjoyed touring 3 of the islands before flying to Arizona where they spent time with their daughter Sharon, in Mesa.

Kelly and Mark Reynolds, of Clifton Springs, are proud to announce the birth of their third child, Hayden Chester on December 13th. He was welcomed home by his brother, Bryce and sister, Ashton. His grandparents are Roger and Sheila Larwood of Marion and Robert and Gail Reynolds of Newark.

Happy 53rd Wedding Anniversary to Bob and Erma Clark on January 3rd.

Shirley Lucieer entertained her family at her Union Street home on Christmas Day.

THANKS! to those who caroled in our neighborhood on Christmas Eve. It was truly appreciated!

Oranges don't ripen after they're picked, but lemons do.

Chris Larsen  playing SantaDavid and Angela Ruple and son, Christopher, of Ocean Springs, Mississsippi, arrived for a family Christmas on Sunday, December 28, at the home of their parents, Ken and Barb Ruple of Farnsworth Road.

No man has a right to leave the world as he found it. He must add something to it; either he must make its people better or happier, or he must make the face of the world more beautiful or fairer to look at. (Bok)

The Marion High School Band Citrus Fruit Sale was deemed a success when the trailer truck backed near the band room window. Students unloading the produce in anticipation of home deliveries are David Barber, Cory Starks, Wayne Adriaansen, Nathan Hill and Bailey Howard. Money raised will be applied to the Marion Spring Band.
