County organizes for '98 The face of Wayne County government changes little for the coming year. Three different faces are seen behind supervisors' desks, and County Clerk Helen Maddock no longer sits on the bench. The changes are the result of Maddock's retirement, and the November election. At Tuesday's organizational meeting, Arcadia's Dominic Bartucca took his seat at the county level, Nelson Werner took the Macedon Supervisor's seat, and, following a four-year hiatus, Frank Guelli returned to represent the Town of Walworth. The 15 supervisors made several unanimous appointments - Mark Alquist as County Attorney, Ron Valentine as Public Defender, Rick Bond as Fire Coordinator, Dan Kane as County Administrator and Budget Officer. Kane will also slip into Maddock's old role and assume the post of Clerk of the Board. Kay Groover will again be seated as Deputy Clerk. The Chairman of the Board is once again Marv Decker of Wolcott. (But that vote is never unanimous, it follows party lines. This year's vote was three Democrats for Guelli, and 12 Republicans for Decker.) Official newspapers will again be the Wayne County Star and the Williamson Sun. Supervisor Frank Guelli was the only no vote. For more details about County government, click here. Copyright © 1998 |
